This afternoon Laura wanted to play Go Fish with Chad with a regular deck of cards (instead of the Cars Go Fish game we have). Since she doesn't know Ace, King, Queen, Jack, they were A, K, Q, and J. At one point, Chad asked her if she had any kings, but then changed it to, "Do you have any King K's?" A few minutes later, I hear Laura ask, "Do you have any King J's?"
I thought it was cute and funny. Chad apparently did too because a while later I heard him ask her, "Do you have any King Q's?"

Payback's payback
When Evan was a baby, a wee tiny baby, Chad would sit and hold him and say, "Daddy! I want Mommy!" over and over again. He thought those should be Evan's first words, so that he would never need to get up with him during the night. Mostly, Chad's a stinkerball, but I'm sure there was a little bit of hope that it would work.
Needless to say, it didn't work.
A year and a half later, along came Kendra. He didn't try this approach with her. (We no longer had that much active brain power because we were no longer sleeping.) A year and a bit after that, Kendra's talking and this becomes her nighttime plea, "Mommy! I need Daddy!"
No prompting nor teaching from me. It was just her honest toddler plea.
And I loved it.
A few months later, along came Laura. With her, there was no campaigning to sway her one way or the other. (Because, honestly, there still wasn't active brain power on our part since Kendra still wasn't sleeping.) And she never hollered an outright preference that was addressed to the opposite parent like Kendra did.

But now she can write.
Dear Mom, I love Dad. Laura
[Note: This isn't actually a mean note. She prefers me at night. She probably even prefers me during the day most of the time. But she wrote this note to me the other day, and I thought it was hilarious. Dear Mom, I love Dad.]
