A scatterbrained hair post

Tuesday:

Hey, I'm getting my hair cut today! I should take a Before picture!

Hmmm...I'll try again.

Well this angle lets me check for gray hairs.

Maybe I'll ask Chad for help.
Nope, that didn't help.

Ah, there we go. A Before picture!

And an After picture. It's so smooth!

It looks so very...

Oh! Hey! There's the ponytails Alison cut off my hair. Let's clip them onto Laura!

You know, her hair and mine really are the same color.

Let's see if Evan's matches too. Yep!

We should check Kendra's. Never mind, she doesn't wan...

Oh, look! Evan has on new jammie pants!

Oh! I should take a picture after I showered.

Hmmm...that doesn't look so smooth anymore.

There either. As a matter of fact, it's more like...

Stairsteps

I haven't posted a stairstep picture in a while. I thought it was about time for a new one.

Evan - 6 years, 4 months
Kendra - 4 years, 10 months
Laura - 3 years, 2 months

The height difference apparently depends on what faces they're making.

Elevators

Tonight Laura started referring to my breasts as elevators. I'm so proud. Or maybe just confused.

Dr. Baby

The girls were playing doctor (listening to each other's hearts and tummies, and giving each other drinks of water). Then they changed to playing mom and baby. But the transition wasn't flawless. They're now calling each other "Dr. Mom" and "Dr. Baby".

The cold, hard, poofy truth

Mommy (standing, holding Evan): You know what makes me sad?
Evan: What?
Mommy: That some day you'll be too big for me to hold. But, that's ok, because then you'll be big enough to hold me!
Evan: No, I won't!
Mommy: Yes, you will. You'll be as big as Daddy, and you'll be able to hold me.
Evan: No, I won't be able to hold you.
Mommy: Sure you will. Daddy can hold me.
Evan: No, I won't ever be able to hold you. You'll still be older than me, and fatter, and poofier.
Mommy: Did you just say I would be poofier?
Evan (hugging and giggling): Yeah!

Bible story

Tonight at supper, I was reading the Bible story cards that Kendra brought home from Sunday School today. I showed the kids the picture on one and asked what they thought the story would be about.

Evan said, "It's about Jesus stopping the storm."

Kendra said, "It's about Jesus sleeping in the bottom of the boat, and Him waking up because He knew his friends were scared, so He came up and told the wind and waves to be calm ... or still."

I told her she may have just made it unnecessary to read the card.

Winning mealtime conversations from Saturday

Lunch
Kendra: Now let's clap with our bananas!
Mommy: NO clapping bananas!

Supper
Laura: (Being the slowest eater at this particular meal, has just crammed the rest of her fish in her mouth at once so she can have a muffin before bed, and is now coughing.)
Evan: Ummm...
Mommy: I think she's ok, Evan. Laura, are you ok?
Laura: Mmmfff.
Evan: Uhhh...
Mommy: No, Evan, she's ok. She just needs to finish it. Laura, chew and swallow.
Evan: I don't think she's ok.
Mommy: She's fine.
Laura: (throwing up all over her plate)
[passage of a few minutes]
Mommy: So, maybe Evan was right that Laura wasn't ok.
