Evan: Daddy! Guess what!
Daddy: What?
Evan: I cleared all of the Batman Leapster game!
Daddy: You cleared the whole game?
Evan: Yeah!
Daddy: Good job!
Evan: It was hard. H-A-D-E. Hard!
Daddy: [chuckles]
Mommy: [quietly mutters] Fix it.
Daddy: Evan, can you spell "hard" for me?
Evan: H-A-D-E.
Mommy: You missed the [r] sound.
Evan: Oh. H-A-R-D. [scampers off to play]

Attention, attention
When I went to the bathroom earlier, I changed the toilet paper roll. I set the empty roll on the counter, but then I apparently forgot to take it to the recycling tub. A while later, I hear a magnified 3-year-old voice from the bathroom saying, "Attention! Attention! Come wipe me!"
Laura and her megaphones. Sheesh...

Good idea, Bad idea
Kendra: If your Mom tells you to go clean up your room, and you go to your room and play, good choice or bad choice?
Laura: Bad choice.
Kendra: If you spring your eyeball out of your head and into real lava, if there was such a thing as real lava, and it falls into the lava, good choice or bad choice?
Laura: Bad choice.
[Thank you to Chad for writing this down so I could laugh hysterically when I found it on my computer after dropping Evan off at school!]

Half dollar
Evan: Daddy, will you put a half dollar on my Christmas list?
Daddy: Yes.
Evan: You will?! Really? You'll put a half dollar on my Christmas list?!
Daddy: Yes.
Evan: And then, if someone gets it for me, I can use it to buy Legos?
Daddy: No, you can't buy Legos with a half dollar. Legos cost a lot more than that.
Evan: [in awe] You know how much a half dollar is worth?
Daddy: Yes, it's worth 50 cents - half of a dollar.
Evan: [lightbulb comes on] Oh, yeah...
Daddy: Yes.

Hey there, Kid
I have tried to get used to Kendra and Laura referring to each other as Baby and Mom the last couple of weeks while they play. I still occasionally answer when I hear one of them holler "Mom!", but I am reminded [every single time] that they were actually calling to the other one that is "Mom" not to me.
But today they're referring to each other as Kid. And I've discovered it's nearly impossible to finish a train of thought when you hear your 3- and 4-year-old daughters saying, "Here ya go, Kid" or "C'mon, Kid, let's go!"
Suddenly I feel like I'm surrounded by small, pink-clad 80-year-old men.

Goo monster
Kendra just made up a song (and corresponding dance, of course). It goes, "I'm a goo monster, and I move like this." Then she wiggles all around the room. It really is quite cute, if I may say so myself.
Actually, I figured it was a large motor song from preschool, but when I asked her where she learned it, she said, "I didn't. I just made it up right now."
And, considering it's now changed to "I'm a goo ducky, and I have goo all around me. I'm a goo ducky, and I quack like this", I absolutely believe that she's making it up as she goes.

Reprimand
Laura: When someone bites your nose, you should NOT let your snot come out into their mouth!
Up until yesterday I didn't know the proper protocol for what to do when someone was biting your nose. Silly me. And here I would have thought that the snot going into the biter's mouth would be a sign that maybe they shouldn't be biting noses. Silly silly me.
On the plus side, Laura now gives me fair enough warning so I can blow my nose before she bites* it.
*They're not really "bites", per se. Just lovey little single nip nibbles. Very lovey.

Spring is coming
On the way home from preschool Tuesday,
Kendra saw 4 robins, all in the same yard.
I do believe, spring is on the way!
And, as much as I love winter,
the kids are ready to get outside to play again.
