Dear Chad,
When I called you a bit ago, I was going to ask you if you'd come make me a cup of coffee ... so I could make myself a cup of coffee. Because, you see, I must not be competent enough to make my own cup of coffee without first having a cup of coffee.
I grabbed the AeroPress, saw it had a filter, and started making myself a small cup of coffee, while thinking that I should thank you for telling me how to make a small cup of coffee. But, as I'm pouring the hot water in, I realize there's no water staying in the AeroPress. I stopped pouring as my coffee cup was level full of water ... and coffee grounds.
I looked in the AeroPress, saw there was no filter, and questioned my sanity.
I cleaned up my mess and was wondering if there was time to try to make another cup when I saw something folded up in the bottom of the kitchen sink. It was the filter. So then I'm wondering how in tarnation the filter got from my coffee, where it didn't do a thing, into the sink. I decided I must have poured the water too fast and it scooted the filter to the side or some such.
Regardless, I picked up the filter, rinsed it off, and started making a second small cup of coffee (or really a first, since the first never made it to "coffee").
And that's when I realized ... there had been a filter. It was sitting on the outside of the AeroPress to dry after you made your coffee this morning. And I, only noticing that there was a filter, didn't move it to the inside of the AeroPress. So the filter simply fell into my cup, along with the water and the coffee grounds.
So, fear not, my dear husband, I successfully made the second cup of coffee.
But maybe tomorrow you should make me a cup of coffee before you leave so I can function at a high enough level to be able to make myself a cup of coffee.
Love,
Lynnette
P.S. Any typos can be blamed on the fact that I haven't actually consumed the coffee yet.

Yet another reason why I love him
Because he grills us hamburgers for lunch ...
while reading a book.
He's wonderful, and he's all mine.

Not Me! Monday
In honor of Not Me! Monday, here's my list of things that I'm sure I did not do ...
I did not talk to Kendra's teacher this morning about Kendra getting stuck in the school during multiple recesses and not being able to get outside. My child is not too small to get the recess door open on her own. She did not spend 2 of the 3 recesses on Friday sitting in between the two sets of doors, hoping someone would come let her out.
I did not make that same daughter cry over the weekend when I took away her beloved lamb after it hid behind the toilet in our hotel room for hide-and-seek. I did not tie it up in a plastic bag and tell her she could have it back after we were home and it had been washed and dried. I did not see my husband nearly cry when I told him about it later. I do not love that he understands our children's pain so well.
I did not sleepy lousy in that hotel room even though the kids slept ok. I did not enjoy every single minute (except for 7 or so not-so-good ones) of a weekend in a hotel room with my kids while Chad was in a seminar.
I did not ignore my slight need to potty at 1:30 yesterday afternoon because I knew we'd be stopping for potty breaks on the drive home. Our kids did not make it the entire ride home without a single potty stop. I did not refuse to have Chad stop for me to go. I did not hold it 3 hours after first noticing that slight need.
It did not take 5 days for last Wednesday’s coffee to wear off. I did not hit my wall today and crash. I did not then make myself a cup of coffee at 2:30 in the afternoon … 7 hours later than I normally have a cup of coffee. I did not try to bribe Laura with a movie so I could nap. She did not act disagreeably about that, which led to the coffee.
I did not get a call from the school today about Evan coughing so much.
I am not typing this post in lieu of doing something productive. I am not enjoying the smell of brownies baking while I type. And I did not start this post with just the coffee paragraph as an e-mail to a coffee-loving friend. Not me!
