Chad's parents are adding onto their house.
Which led to them redoing their kitchen floor.
Which led to them offering us their fairly-new wood laminate flooring.
Which led to taking the carpet (and vinyl) out of our kitchen.
Which led to deciding our kitchen hardwood floor was worth refinishing.
Which led to calling for estimates on refinishing the kitchen floor.
Which led to asking for estimates on refinishing the whole main floor.
Which led to getting a good price on the kitchen floor.
Which led to deciding to take the carpet out of our laundry room (so the laminate could go there).
Which led to doing laundry since I'll be without a washer and dryer for a few days.
Which led to me sitting here eating a bowl of ice cream and wondering how we got here from there.
Which led to me being late to bed again tonight.
Which will hopefully not lead to Chad having a crabby helper taking out the laundry room carpet tomorrow.

Worm, Fun, Love
This afternoon Kendra took an unexpected 3-hour nap. Yet Laura didn't nap at all; although that's not part of this story. Since Kendra napped and for so long, she got to be the last kid for bedtime tonight. She also got to help me do our "turtle chores". We have found that our turtle loves worms (fish worms, earth worms, whatever you want to call them). Yesterday, he ate 7 in the morning and 7 at night. In the morning, I quit feeding him because I thought 7 was plenty. That night I quit feeding him at 7 worms because I had run out. This morning I went on a worm hunt with my dad and found what I thought should be enough worms for at least a couple of days. However, this evening Kendra and I fed him (and watched him eat) 20 worms. I think we might need more worms soon...
I've gotten off track though. Kendra helped me do our "turtle chores". She sat very still and quiet on a chair by the turtle's pool while I threw the worms in while we watched him eat. We only talked to each other in very quiet whispers, and not very often at that. But when we came back in the house, she told me, "that was so much fun." It was very quiet and not excited, just absolutely sincere. I squatted down to tell her I thought it was so much fun too, and she gave me a huge hug and kiss.
I think Kendra's long nap (and then late bedtime tonight) made for some wonderful time alone together for Mommy and Kendra!
