Chad: Is it supposed to be hot today?
Me: Yep. We're in a High Heat Warning again for today. It was cooler and cloudy this morning, but now the sun has been coming out some. It's still partly cloudy though.
Chad: Did you say "partly crowdy"?
Me: No, I didn't say "partly crowdy". I said "clllllloudy", with an L.
Chad: Oh. But if you were agoraphobic, then you might say, "It's partly crowdy."
Me: Yes, yes I guess I might.

A "new" movie
Last weekend we went to Chad's parents' house. We left home at 2:30, but the four hour drive took us six and a half hours. It wasn't our best trip ever. I had grabbed a new-to-the-kids movie in case we were in need of some screen-entertainment assistance with our ride. When we were 2 hours from home, but it had already been a little over 4 hours, I knew it was time for some help. We were passing bedtimes, but the sun would still be up for a few hours, and we still had a lot of miles to cover. So I turned on the movie.
It kept their attention, without the normal "duuuuhhhh" look a movie causes.
It was worth blocking the setting sun for.
It lasted all the way to sunset and our destination.
It was Mary Poppins.
And it was practically perfect in every way.

New play area
Last week, we moved the long dresser out of the girls' room. We had put a low rod in their closet so Kendra could hang her shirts in there, which she loves. And that allowed me to get clothes moved out of the long dresser and into the chest of drawers and the previously-underutilized bunkbed drawers. Moving the dresser out allowed for a little rearranging in their room.
And the result is this -- a little play area in their room!
Their dollhouse is now out in their room instead of tucked away in their closet.
Their baby dolls are in a little bed, with the doll clothes in a rubbermaid drawer thing instead of in a duffel bag in their closet.
Their bookshelf has a lamp on it so they can read in those pre-dawn hours they like so much.
They have a basket to keep little stuffed animals in.
I'm not sure who likes it more - me or them!

Just so you know...
Oh, Sweetie, just so you know...
--Evan wants to know what the inside of a testicle looks like.
--He knows that you've studied in a cadaver lab.
--He knows what a cadaver lab is.
--And he knows what that non-pottying use for a penis is.
I thought you might like to know that he knows those things.
