True love

Chad came home from Pella with new underwear for me. Were they slinky and lacy? No? Are they a display of true love? Yes.
I'm just not sure if they're showing love for me or for coffee...

Not Me! Monday

It's that time! Time to tell all about the things we did not do this past week. The things we would for sure keep to ourselves, instead of telling on a blog for the whole world (or my 6 readers) to see. Visit MckMama's blog to see what others did not do this week also!
Since this week is a rather crazy one for us, I'm going to skip the photo post today and just do the week's highlights.

When driving to Pella a day last week and Laura threw up massive amounts of vomit in her carseat, I did not learn the limits of my cheapness. I am admittedly cheap. So there's no way we went on in to Pella and bought a brand new carseat. But if that had happened, I would have been smart enough to buy the new carseat for Evan and immediately graduate everyone up a seat. But it's a good thing that did not happen. Otherwise, I might have splurged for the super deluxe carseat with reading lights for Evan. (Note: If all of this had actually happened, my cheapness would have still been enough intact that I cleaned Laura's carseat when we got home, and she's happily back in it.)

Since we've already discussed how thrifty I am, there's certainly no way I let Laura play with the end of a package of hamburger buns while I made supper the other night, just so she'd be happy enough for me to cook. I always feed my children in time so they're never overly hungry. Laura never (at every meal) comes into the kitchen, gets out a bag of buns or bread, and helps herself to one as a pre-meal snack. And since that never happens, I did not discover the leftover bun that she had eaten half of was moldy.*

N-*32ow (This was a good example to show that I have definitely taught Laura to leave the computer alone...)

Now that we've established how observant I am of my children's activities, I absolutely did not discover Laura, who had gotten into the drawer with Chad's shaving stuff, to be coming her hair with a razor.

And now that we've covered my concern for my children's safety, let's talk about the weather. We had a whole lot of rain last week. Late one afternoon, I went outside to make sure the pipe for the sump pump was running where it was supposed to and not running right back down along the foundation of the house. Upon returning to the house, I heard all 3 kids in Laura's room. I thought, "How sweet! They were looking out her window and watching me check the sump pump tile." As I went around the corner of the hallway to ask them if they had seen me, I'm sure I did not witness Evan and Kendra rock Laura's loveseat hard enough to tip it backwards into the windows. And there's no way that Laura got thrown off the front in the process and landed underneath the tipped-back loveseat.

Since we've gone over my children's careful and correct usage of furniture, I do not need to tell you that I discovered the next day that Evan and Kendra have broken one of the boards of Laura's toddler bed. And there's no way they accomplished this feat while she's still sleeping in the crib. My children always use furniture correctly and never jump on beds.

Phew, I'm glad none of that stuff happened. If it had, I would have come off as sounding like a negligent parent with rotten children.

*Note: The vomit episode happened before the moldy bun episode. That is very important to know. The bun did not cause the throwing up.

Finger-smashin' triple play

#1: Laura closed her finger in a bifold closet door.
#2: Laura dropped the toilet seat and lid on both of her thumbs.
#3: I scooped Laura away from the sink before realizing she had her finger in the little overflow hole.

All before 9:00 this morning!
