Missing baby, new prayer

Remember when I posted about Laura's new little tiny baby? The one she got at a garage sale. The one that's only about 3 inches tall. The one that she loves. The one that she sleeps with at night. Then one that seems to make her sleep (some) better at night. The one that Evan started removing the beads from and throwing them around the house. The one that I had the kids help me hunt for her beads so I could restuff her. The one that I restuffed and sewed back together one night this week. The one that Laura hasn't had at bedtime the last 3 nights. The one that I can't find anywhere. Yeah, that one. Do you know where it is? She wants it back.

However, despite not having her little baby, she had a new prayer tonight that was very different from what she usually prays. Her usual bedtime prayer is something along the lines of "Thank you for no booms. Thank you for Mommy and Daddy. Thank you for Evan and Kendra. Thank you for no thunder. Thank you for cows and pigs. Thank you for Grandpa and Grandma. Amen." However, tonight's prayer (which may be missing a part or two since it was fairly long for me to remember) was:

Thank you for I can go on a ride in the Trekker.
Thank you for Mommy laughs.
Thank you for Mommy was nice in the tub with [something I didn't catch] bucket.
Thank you that I go in the turtle pool.
Thank you for the big pool that smells like cow baachies.
Thank you for Grandpa and Grandma.
Amen.
[Chad gets to the side of the house by her room to mow.]
And thank you if Daddy's mowing.
Amen.

Technicalities

Evan: C'mon, guys. Let's make us all look like we have girl hair.
Kendra: Ok, but I already have girl hair.

Early morning trickery

Evan and Kendra were the first two to wake up this morning, so they came and climbed in bed with us for an early morning snuggle. After laying there for a while, Evan asked Laura, "Wanna go play, Boo?"
Laura: No, I sleeping.
[a few seconds pass]
Laura: Wanna go play?
Evan: Yeah! Let's go play!
Laura: No, I sleeping.
[a few seconds pass]
Laura: Wanna go play?

Evan: Yeah! Let's go play!
Laura: No, I sleeping.
And on it went for several rounds. And on I laughed for every round of it.

This morning, like most mornings, it was requested of me to read this cookie blog post to the kids over and over again. I really should count how many times a day they ask for it. And I really should count how many times a day they recite it when they're not even near the computer.
-----
On top of early morning trickery and cookie-blog-reading, our mornings also include the girls requesting piggy tails every single day lately. I would say I'm tired of putting in piggy tails so often, but really, as cute as they are (the girls and the piggy tails), I really can't complain!

Oh, and welcome to anyone visiting from MckMama's blog. I just saw my name there. What a surprise!

Political banter

I am very unknowledgeable about politics. Embarrassingly so. I usually know the names of people running for major offices in our state, but not always.

However, Evan must pay attention when he hears people talk about politicians and people running for office.

Why do I say that, you ask? Simply because when he and Kendra were playing this afternoon, he hollered at her, "you Vander Plaats!" It wasn't a compliment; it wasn't a dig. It was just the name that came to mind to call her.

I was proud of him for knowing something about politics. And slightly embarrassed that he might know more than me.

Note 1: Evan pays attention when anyone talks about anything. It's not that he necessarily has a fondness for politics.
Note 2: Bob Vander Plaats is running for governor in Iowa. This is one I know. But I did go check on Google just to make sure I had it right before posting.

This is my life

While I was going to the bathroom this afternoon, Evan and Kendra came into the bathroom to say "Hi, Mom!". They were wearing underwear, their shirts were MIA, and they had their shorts on their heads.

This is my life. And I love it.

Kite hat

Chad took an umbrella to work this morning. When he was walking out, I told the kids to run to the alcove window so they could watch Daddy run to work. They all run to the window, and Laura says, "HAH! Daddy's wearing a kite!"

She thought it was hilarious. I thought she was hilarious.
