Mowing with Daddy

Ready to mow with Daddy.

Done mowing.

So very done.

Still done.

Checking ...

Yep, still done.

Calling all handymen

Tonight's supper ended with a tumble from Kendra and her chair,
surprisingly with no shenanigans going on at the time.
She escaped with only a misalignment in her sacrum,
which was quickly corrected by Chad.
The chair, however, did not fair so well.
As you can see, 3 of the spindles (spokes?) broke out.
The left one of the three has nothing left to hook in at the top.
The middle of the three broke off clean with the chair at the bottom,
meaning part of it is still in the seat part of the chair.
And the right of the three spindles came out of the top,
with significant splintering.
So, the question is:
Is it fixable? And, if so, how?
Now accepting any ideas.

Calling Grandma

Kendra calls my mom on the phone several times a day.
Usually on a play phone, usually.
She knows my parents' phone number (yes, it's a local call),
so she actually dials their real number on a play phone.
Or she tells Evan their number so he can dial the real phone to call them.
If only my mom knew how many phone calls she was getting a day
on a pink, sparkly princess phone.

Letter to my husband

Dear husband,
I'm sorry about the mess on the driveway. But I really can't seem to bring myself to try and stop it. You see, our daughters are playing together so very nicely. Laura is picking past-their-prime grape tomatoes from the garden and putting them on the driveway. So Kendra can run over them with her bike tire. Despite the mess, it really is quite cute.
Love,
Your wife
P.S. Kendra's bike may need hosed off.

Who needs...

Who needs a Twister game ... when you have a kitchen rug.

Right foot on rust color. Left foot on dark green. Head on rust color.

Smile on Laura.
----------

Who needs clothes ... when there's a basket of clean, warm laundry that's just your size.
----------

Who needs face-to-face communication ... when you can talk to each other on your phones
in your chairs that are right beside each other.

----------
Who needs seatbelts ... when you can just cram another person in the seat so tight that you can't possibly fall out.

----------
Who needs hired help ... when you have this guy around.

----------
Who needs a store-bought trap ... when you have a handmade trap like this in your yard.

----------
Who needs tv ... when God provides entertainment everywhere around you.

Simple love

Last night, Evan invited me to have a sleepover in his bed after the girls were asleep.

This morning, Laura invited me to play in the bathtub with her while Evan and Kendra were gone to school and preschool.

I love doing the simple things that make our kids feel happy and loved!

I think Hy-Vee should be reimbursing us for advertising their toilet paper.

You, her, her, him, and still you

As Chad is leaving the house after lunch today, he's hugging Kendra and tells her, "I love you. And I love Mommy, and I love Laura. And I love Evan too, but he's not here right now; he's at school." Kendra replies, "do you love me?" Chad answers, "Yes, I love you. I said you first, Goof." To which Kendra responds with a happy little, "Woo hoo!"

I love that our love makes our lovebugs so happy!

-----

And on a completely unrelated note, but it happened just now:
Laura asked if she and Kendra could each have a piece of candy. She so happily ran off to play when I told her to wait a little bit, that when I finished what I was working on, I went to get them each a piece of candy. But where did I find them? In the entryway trying to figure out how to open a bag of brown sugar, of course.

Echo echo

"Dad, I wanna sit on your lap to eat."
"Dad, I wanna sit on your lap to eat, too."

In other hair news

Along with Kendra's big haircut and Laura's first time using scissors, we also had other fun in our house with hair last week.

Evan now likes giving himself a "hairdo" every morning. A hairdo counts as anything other than having his hair laying down. This was Wednesday's hairdo:

And Laura and I discovered that having the same color hair allows for some fun in the mirror.
Like laying my hair over her head to see how she looks with long straight hair:

And how she looks hiding behind that hair.

Yep, we're easy to please around here.
