Almost always

The girls are sitting at the table saying:
"Best friends today, tomorrow, and always. Except we get Saturdays off."

After enough recitations of it, Laura blurts out, "That's not nice! ... You have the mirror all to yourself!"

No concerns about that "except we get Saturdays off". The only problem is that Kendra's holding a mirror and not sharing. Maybe she thinks it's Saturday ...

Our God is so huge

Laura: Mommy, when I saw that cross in the ditch just now, I wondered if it's the one that Jesus died on. But I think it might be too small.
Mommy: No, that's not the one that Jesus died on.
Laura: Yeah, that one's too small.
Evan: I think the real cross might have been as big as that pole!
Laura: It would have to be HUGE to be able to hold all of God's body!
Evan: It wasn't all of God's body; it was just Jesus.

I love how kids think of things and how those things can seem so small and simple and pointless. But then, if you stop to really think about it, you realize how profound some of those things are. The cross had to be huge to be able to hold all of God's body. We're all part of God's body (the body of Christ). So, yes, symbolically, the cross did have to be huge to hold all of us and all of our sins.

But, this morning, as we were passing that little cross in the ditch, I was being small and simple and pointless, and I was thinking about a miniature Jesus on a little 4-foot cross, and I had to try not to giggle.

Rotten, lousy drunks

As we're getting in the van in a parking lot the other day, Evan sees a decal on a car that's a very scantily lady in a very unbecoming position. He and Laura start giggling, "You can see her bottom!"

I looked to see what they were talking about and said, "Oh wow. That's not a good picture. That's not ok to have on your car. Or anywhere really."

Evan replied with, "Yeah, they must be drunk."
