The rainbow, dressed up

Remember Kendra's rainbow outfit for preschool?

Well, I recently found a pair of tights for the girls.

They seemed perfect for Kendra.

And perfect for her rainbow striped shirt.

And perfect for her to be a rainbow for church too!

A colorful Sunday

The Sunday before last,
we spent the afternoon playing with Play-Doh,
making Christmas (and not-so Christmas) ornaments,
and thinning the Play-Doh herd.
Because the herd was very out of control.

What mornings bring

A big pile of crud after sweeping
[alternately called: proof that the kids are happy cutting paper into scraps]

Legos on the loveseat
[alternately called: proof that Evan is happy before going to school]

Dresser drawer handles flipped up
[alternately called: proof that Kendra is happy doing most anything]

A backpack full of toys
[alternately called: proof that the girls like playing together]

A neatly folded set of jammies
[alternately called: proof that Chad leaves me lovey surprises]

The Snuggling Rules

Evan: Mommy, after this one, there's only one more snuggle, then no more.
Mommy: I only get to snuggle you one more time after this?
Evan: Yep. Until college.
Mommy: I get to snuggle you when you're in college?
Evan: Mm-hmm.
Mommy: Sweet! But why do I only get one more snuggle between now and college?
Evan: Well, you can have one snuggle a year.
Mommy: Oh. Ok. When is it going to be? On your birthday or my birthday? Or is it going to be all the way from my birthday to your birthday, and then it would be a 4-day long snuggle!
Evan: No! But it can be on any day that's a birthday, but only for one minute.
Mommy: So I can snuggle you for one minute every day?
Evan: Yes, because every day is someone's birthday, even if we don't know them.
Mommy: Ok.
Evan: But only until high school.
Mommy: Only until you're in high school?
Evan: Yes.
Mommy: What happens from high school until college?
Evan: Well, you get one snuggle a year then. And it will be on Christmas.
Mommy: Ok. Oooohh! Can you be wrapped up in a great big box with a bow, and then when I open it, you can jump out and I can yell, "Look! It's a snuggle!"?
Evan: [giggling]

Another hairy post

Since I haven't done a hair-do post for a few days,
I thought it was time again.

Last Wednesday morning, I asked Kendra to come to the bathroom
so I could comb her hair.

Like always, I asked her how she wanted her hair that day.
Unlike always, she answered with, "Let me think about it."

A few minutes later she came back with her answer.
"I want a row of piggy tails right across here.
Then I'll have cheerleader hair!"

"Here" was at her hairline in the front.
I offered to give her 4 piggy tails.

She was quite happy.
This is how she went to preschool.

Well, she didn't have her tongue hanging out the whole time,
but she did have four piggy tails,

and she had 5 compliments before she had her coat off.

To Daddy, From Evan

Daddy,
Look! It's Dogbert!
I made him a car!
Love, Evan

The truth revealed

In case yesterday's November Math post was too happy-looking for you,

here is what my first attempt at a picture of the kids together looked like.

This is one of the reasons I didn't end yesterday's post by saying it was a perfect afternoon.
