Ice storm sleepover

We spent last night at my parents' house since we were without power most of the day at home, and we weren't sure it would stay on through the night if it did come back on (which it did come back on as we were zipping kids' coats to walk out the door).

But instead of posting about things like Laura being awake for at least 2 1/2 hours straight in the middle of the night, I'll post Evan's middle-of-the-night reprimand to me.

Mommy: (who just stepped on Evan's foot while trying to get to Laura in the dark) Oh! Sorry, Evan!
Evan: Ow. Mo-om. Pay attention to the carpet.

How to avoid a nap, by Laura

How to avoid a nap
by Laura

1. Throw stuffed cow, puppy, and giraffe out of crib.
2. Throw blankies out of bed.
3. Remove socks; throw out of bed.
4. Remove pants; leave them in bed.
5. Remove dry diaper.
6. Potty.
7. Throw (now wet) pants out of bed.
8. Remove wet fleece blanket from matress; throw out of bed.
9. Holler for Mommy.
10. Wait for Mommy to come in your door.
11. Point and announce "potty!"
12. Run and play while Mommy cleans up your wet mess.

How to accomplish naptime in the face of a 2-year-old adversary
by Mommy

1. Clean up aforementioned mess and remake bed.
2. Ask sweetly if the guilty party would like more milky stuff.
3. Nurse said guilty party for approximately 45 seconds before she's sound asleep.

Now back to our regularly scheduled vacuuming

Attempt 1 at vacuuming: Vacuum was giving off smell of vomit from cleaning up yesterday's dried puke mess.
Solution: Change vacuum bag.

Attempt 2 at vacuuming: Laura spilled orange juice down herself.
Solution: Wipe off table and chair. Change Laura's pants, shirt, and onesie.

Attempt 3 at vacuuming: Laura dumped her remaining orange juice into her bowl of animal crackers, and back and forth and back and forth.
Solution: Wipe table again. Remove snack and juice from Laura's possession.

Attempt 4 at vacuuming: Unintentionally vacuumed up Evan's "baby", which was a fuzzy he had just spotted on the floor and wanted to keep.
Solution: Encourage Evan to go look for a different fuzz in the hallway or Laura's room where I hadn't vacuumed yet.

Attempt 5 at vacuuming: Successful!

Falling in love...alone

Kendra: Evan, we're falling in love.
Evan: Nuh-uh. We're never going to fall in love.
Kendra: But if you fall alone on the path, I'll come be with you.

(Pretty good grasp of love there, babe!)

What a difference a day makes

Dear Kendra

Dear Kendra,
It was very courteous of you to not wake Mommy and Daddy up during the night. However, it's ok to let us know if you throw up.
Love, Mommy
P.S. I know you kept your side of the bed clean, but it wasn't very polite to go to Evan's side of the bed to throw up.
