Silk, shoes, close enough

According to the ever-reliable internet, the traditional gift for a 12th wedding anniversary is silk.

So today, while Chad and I were out on our anniversary date (Carlos O'Kelly's, Home Depot, a potty break at Walgreen's, and cold coffees from a gas station count as a date, right?), I bought these shoes.

Shoes, silk, that's close enough, right?

First day of summer

On Evan's first day of summer break, he:

--stayed in bed until 6:47
--did a Lite Brite picture
--put the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher
--did 6 of the 39 activities he needs to do before school starts again in the fall
--lost a top tooth

--read 9 (and two-thirds) of the 50 books he needs to read this summer
--made a big GeoTrax track, complete with two bridges
--ate supper out on the front step
--made it to bed [mostly] on time

I think that's a pretty good start to our summer!
