Updates

A few updates from previous blog posts:

Teeth: Laura did not make it to 8 teeth by 9 months. She had 6. She got #7 today.

Whining: Kendra has toned down her whining for the most part. Last I checked she had gotten 3 of her 2-year molars within a couple of weeks. Maybe that was part of the problem.

Sleeping: Kendra's sleeping has improved. I've started sitting in the chair with her before bed and before naptime and letting her drink a cup of milk. She's generally out before the milk is gone or shortly afterwards. I've never had a "rock to sleep" kid, so I'm enjoying the snuggling for now! Laura's nights went back to nearly perfect, but now she's been up again the last 2 nights. I'm blaming the tooth she got today and the drastic change in weather. I think she may have been having problems with her jammies changing from a sleeveless onesie to long-sleeved, long-legged jammies with feet/socks. Tonight she's back to a onesie, a pair of cotton pants, and no socks. We'll see if that does the trick.

Positive attitude: I'm still struggling with this one some days. It is better than it was. But when my attitude turns crabby, I realize it and try to turn it back around. Is that always easy/possible? No, I fear not. But I am trying to think about how I would feel if someone was talking to/hollering at/giving aggravated looks at me like I am to my kids, and I know I wouldn't like it one single bit. I will continue to try being a nicer mommy.

Early bedtime: Oh, wait, I never blogged about that. I really need to start getting to bed earlier. A lot earlier. I haven't mastered that one yet though. Maybe next week...

Funny stuff!

Today at lunch Chad is in the kitchen holding Laura and teaching her how to make coffee. Evan and Kendra are playing in the dining room. Laura grabs for Chad's iced mocha after he has it made. He tells her that she doesn't get coffee. She can't have coffee until she's at least one. From the other room, I hear Evan and Kendra saying "Am I one? Kendra's one." "I'm one! Evan's one." (No, they did not get any iced mocha today.)

Shortly later, Chad is in the bathroom helping Kendra. Evan is at the table with me, looking at a construction book and watching me feed Laura her pureed peaches. He asks me how to spell 'peach sauce'. I start telling him the letters. In the bathroom, Kendra says to Chad, "Mommy's saying these letters T-A-X-I. That spells ball!" (Chad's still trying to figure out how Kendra happened to spell 'taxi' even though she said she was spelling 'ball'.)
