A story for each one

Evan
Last Wednesday, Evan and Kendra both earned their first badge at Awanas. They were very excited! On the way home, they were telling me about what to do with them.
Kendra: You need to iron it on with the iron that you use to make clothes... ... ...
And she stopped. Because she wasn't sure what you do to clothes with an iron. Evan steps in and says, "Do we even have an ironer?"

Kendra
Tonight I was snuggling Kendra in her bed at bedtime. Laura was already asleep below us. (Laura sleeps in the bottom bunk; we weren't laying on her.) So we were whispering, and we started spelling everything to each other. There were a lot of I L-O-V-E Y-O-U's and a lot of Y-O-U A-R-E M-I-N-E's. Kendra got stuck in a rut where she was spelling back to me what I had just spelled to her, except she was adding a T-O-O to the end. So when I spelled Y-O-U A-R-E W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L to her, and she started with Y-O-U A-R-E W-O, I expected it to be what I spelled but with a T-O-O. Instead it was a Y-O-U A-R-E W-O-U-N-D U-P.

Laura
The weekend before last, we went to Chad's parents' house. As I was finishing up getting stuff ready to leave, I was to the end of my Before We Go list, where there are things like "take phones and cups to van", "turn off coffeepot", and last minute items like that. I had a few extra minutes before we needed to pick Evan and Kendra up from school, so I decided to make myself a cup of coffee. I showed Laura two cups and asked her which one I should make my coffee in - the 16 oz one or the 24 oz one. She looked at both, then pointed to the smaller one. I told her ok but asked her why she chose that one. She said, "because I don't want you to have too much coffee and be mad." Not quite sure where she was going with that, I asked her what she meant. "Because if you have too much coffee, you won't sleep." And Little Girl knows that when Mama doesn't sleep enough, Mama gets mad more easily. Smart little whippersnapper, that one is. And her level of reasoning left me thinking I should have had a cup of coffee first so I could keep up with her.
