You know it's been bad when...

You know the night before last was bad when ...
... you can't read a kids book to your home-sick-from-school son because the connection between your mouth and brain seems to have fallen asleep.

You know the night before last was bad when ...
...you have a cup of coffee at 3:10, and at 3:50 you can tell it wore off already.

You know the night before last was bad when ...
... you seriously contemplate if your kids can go without supper so everyone (including you) can go to bed at 5:30.

You know the night before last was bad when ...
... you apologize to your kids for your attitude three separate times during supper.

You know the night before last was bad when ...
... your husband says, "I had 4 shots of espresso this morning. Why am I still so tired?"

Wrong choice(s)

This morning we tried to decide whether to send Evan to school. He was up for at least 3 hours overnight (after 4:00, he figured out that I had answered enough hollers, so I'm not sure what time he actually went back to sleep) complaining of a sore jaw and that it felt like he had something in his ear. After much back-and-forth between Chad and I this morning, the decision was made for Evan to go to school.

I found a crockpot tapioca recipe this morning. It sounded like an easier way to make "real" (not minute) tapioca without standing and stirring for so long. The recipe called for a 4-quart or larger crockpot. Mine is a 3-quart, but it was only about 2/3 full when I had all the stuff in it.

At 1:00 the school nurse called me to come get Evan and take him to the doctor. I took him to Doctor Daddy who said his occiput was out and both ears are infected. Evan's now home resting.

While I was picking Evan up and having Chad check him out at the office, the tapioca boiled over.

So, to summarize:
1. Evan should have stayed home from school today.
2. A 3-quart crockpot isn't quite big enough if you're not going to be home to watch the tapioca.

Happy fall!

Have a wonderful fall day!

No "duh"

When Chad breaks the "no toys at the table" rule
by playing with a twisty tie:

(If you didn't understand the title of the post, it's supposed to be funny. Because the picture is of Chad's name without the d, or without the "duh" sound. Therefore, "no duh". Granted, it would have been funnier if I hadn't had to explain it ... and if D actually said "duh".)
