Pulled one over on the 2-year-old

All 3 of our kids have at some point wiped off our kisses. Which then turns into a game where in a growly voice, I say, "I said 'KISS'" at them. They laugh. I kiss them. They wipe it off. Repeat repeat repeat. Laura has just recently started doing this.

When I was putting Laura down for her nap today, I gave her a kiss. She wiped it off, and we proceeded to play the game I just described above. She finally said "no kiss" in an I'm-not-playing-anymore-please-don't-kiss-me voice. So I said, "ok, no kiss". She leaned into me for a hug.

Being the stinkery mommy I am, I couldn't resist the opportunity being presented to me. I hugged her for a bit then said, "should we kiss and make up?"

The reply? "Mm-hmm" with a big kiss.

Win for the mommy!

Where's your ...

Laura, where are your teeth?

Where's your nose?

Where's your eyes?

Where's your ears?

Where's your hair?

Where's your chin?

Where's your neck?

Where's your tongue?

Where's your mouth?

Where are your lips?

Where are your cheeks?

Where's your kiss?

Note: Yes, Laura does have pizza sauce around her mouth from supper yet.
Note: Yes, I do use incorrect subject/verb agreement when asking questions such as "Where's your ears?".
Note: Yes, these are the actual questions I was asking her.
Note: Yes, she was pointing those parts of her face at the camera intentionally instead of using her finger to point at the appropriate part.
Note: Yes, she absolutely would have kissed the camera lens if I hadn't moved it out of the way so quickly.

Overheard (frequently)

Evan: Quick! Scurry about! There's a ZhuZhu Pet coming!

(Can I just say how big it makes me smile every time he tells his sister's that all 3 of them need to "scurry about"!)

This is an actual conversation

Evan: Mommy, where did we get my tractor shirt?
Mommy: The black one?
Evan: My tractor shirt like Kendra's. Where did we get it?
Mommy: The black one with the gray sleeves?
Evan: We have a lot of John Deere shirts. The one with the tractor. Where'd we get it?
Mommy: The black one with the tractor on it? Darrell and Jenn gave it to you for Christmas last year.
Evan: Where'd they get it?
Mommy: I think Theisen's.
Evan: Ok. You need to call Dawn my teacher and tell her that because she wants to get a shirt like that for Logan.
Mommy: I need to tell Dawn? Ok, I'll e-mail her.
Evan: Ok! Thanks, Mommy! (scampers off to play)

Strayed from the norm

Most days (approximately 29 days of the month), Laura falls asleep nursing before her nap. I lay her in the crib, cover her up, brush her hair back off her face, grab my book and the phone off the diaper pail, and leave her room, shutting the door behind me.

On that rare occasion when she doesn't fall asleep nursing, she's on her own to determine her sleeping position. That position is usually laying on her back or sometimes her side.

On the very rare occasion (once) that she strays too far from her norm, she will fall asleep like this:

Dear Laura, I think we should go back to our original naptime routine. You seem to breathe more easily in your normal position.

Bare bottoms and broken ribs

Yesterday morning, we get to church, everyone's coats off and hung up, into the pew, service is started. Laura turns around with her back to me, and I see that her unsnapped onesie tail is hanging down outside of her skirt (probably because no one remembered to change her diaper from overnight until she already had her shoes and coat on to walk out the door so she got changed in a hurry past all of her clothes). Anyway, I figure I'll quick remedy the problem right there (while Chad's whispering to me that it's supposed to be that way -- it's like a necktie for her bottom -- an embellishment or adornment of sorts). We're in the back pew, so why not? I lay her down on my lap, pull down her skirt, pull down her tights, and ... the pastor asks everyone to stand up and greet each other. So there we are. Me sitting down. Laura on my lap, skirt and tights around her knees. Perfect.
----------
Working on leftovers for lunch today, Evan chooses some leftover ribs. He keeps taking too big of bites and can't get them chewed and swallowed before they get yucky in his mouth. I start to ask Chad, "Do you need to break Evan's ribs into piec..." Nope, that doesn't sound right. "Would it help if you broke his rib..." Nope, still not better. Chad, being ever so helpful, just looks at me with a you-want-me-to-do-what-to-my-son? look. I never did figure out how to ask the question in an acceptable fashion.

The Post of Christmas Presents - Lynnette

I thought Chad's present post was difficult, but then I got to mine. We didn't do so well taking pictures of each other this Christmas.

I got the Cake Wrecks book!

I got lots of snuggles while presents were being opened.

I got a Tupperware microfiber dishrag (which I'm in love with) and three of their microfiber towels (which I also like a lot).

I got to spend days on end wearing fuzzy jammie pants!

I got to spend a lot of time with my sweetie pie -- a wonderful present!

And for those times when he wasn't close by, I ended Christmas with 5 pairs of fuzzy jammie pants (and one fuzzy jammie shirt!) that keep me feeling snuggled.

And, since I'm so addicted to fuzzy jammie pants the last couple of months. I'll give you a rundown of what all they are (lucky you!). In the above picture, from bottom to top: pink "Need Coffee" pants that Chad got me earlier this winter, Christmas-y pants from Chad and the kids for Christmas, heart pants that started the obsession (they came from a garage sale -- best 50 cents ever spent), pink paisley pants from Chad's parents, and black with white polka dots pants that came with a matching button-up jammie shirt (as seen below) also from Chad's parents.

Side note: I remember a year when I was a kid that my mom's younger brother (seen here wearing his new "hair hat")

only asked for socks for Christmas and ended up with I believe 42 pairs of socks that year. Having an ornery family, they only got him what was on his list -- socks. While my Christmas wasn't quite like that, maybe I should come up with something other than fuzzy jammie pants for my list next year...

The Post of Christmas Presents - Chad

Chad got a Billy FunWheels radio-controlled car for Christmas. Because he's the best daddy ever. He chose to get this from my grandma because we couldn't decide between this and the Spin & Crash Raceway for Evan. Best daddy ever.

He got a pastry sheet. Because he's the best baker I know. He also got to do the kids happy fun present dance with them.

He got a new coffee grinder. Which he ordered himself. Because he's a coffee gadget addict.

And he got to spend extra time with his lovebugs. Because the weather was lousy so we stayed home during our original planned trip to his parents' house. And because he's a great daddy!

Like, totally

Evan: Mom, you couldn't see it, but I totally opened the door!
Mommy: You did?
Evan: Yeah! You couldn't see it, but I totally did open it. I put my hand in my sleeve and my sleeve over the doorknob, then I opened the door!
Mommy: Cool.
