So full of sports knowledge

"Mama, how do I look now for the baseball court? I have two baseball clubs!"

This was not made up. That was her exact quote.

Just floored

I'm just floored by how little blogging I've done lately.
Or, maybe it's just that I haven't been blogging much lately because I've been busy working on our floors.

Our kitchen started with this:

Under which we found this:

And under that, there was a little glimpse of this:

Which led to a test patch like this:

And soon, we'll (where "we" means "someone else, not actually us") be refinishing the whole main floor of our house. That's right. The nearly 50-year-old carpet will be all coming out over the next few weeks, we'll be moving all of our stuff out of the main floor of the house for the refinishing work to be done, and we will go from a completely-carpeted main floor to a completely-carpet-free main floor.

So, if you've also been floored by my lack of blogging lately, now you know that it's because I've been spending a lot of time on my hands and knees working on our floor.

Not Me! Monday

If I had been hungry late this morning, I would not have chosen strawberry (and blueberry) shortcake for a snack. And I would not have given the girls each a small bowl of chocolate pudding to dip graham crackers in so they wouldn't notice my strawberry shortcake. If I had had that snack though, I would have sat with the girls and not been at my computer reading MckMama's Not Me! Monday post. Yet, if I had been at my computer reading that, I still would have been paying attention to the girls. I would not have let the words "chocolate on the wall" slide blissfully over my ears 3 or 4 times before the words and their meaning sunk in. Nope, not me. No way any of that would have happened here in the last few minutes. Absolutely not!

Who says he doesn't compliment me?

This morning I put on a "new" dress for church. ("New" means it's new to me but is actually from a garage sale.) I came out to the living room to show Chad.
Lynnette: How do you like my dress?
Chad: It's very elephant-y.
Lynnette: [Mouth hanging open. Blinks.]
Chad: Ohhhh. That didn't sound very good, huh? The dress looks nice. It's just that it has elephants on it.
Lynnette: Yeah, whatever.

Note: The dress does have elephants on it. I knew full well what Chad meant; it's just fun to make him nervous every once in a while. And he made up for his ill-worded compliment by telling me my dress was very cheetah-y.
