Evan: Kendra, who are you going to marry when you grow up? I'm going to marry Laura.
Kendra: I'm going to marry Daddy.
Evan: You can't marry Daddy. He's already married.
Kendra: Oh. I'm going to marry Mommy.
Evan: You can't. She's married too.
Kendra: Oh.
Evan: You have to marry one of your friends.
Kendra: Ok! I'm going to marry Emily.
Evan: Hey, Kendra! Wanna see this rocket?

He's getting so big!
Evan (looking out window): Here comes Daddy to fix the computer! He's getting so big! Look, he's really grown this year! He's getting to be so big!
I think this makes up for this.

Writing: O, Reading: S, Spelling: U
In lower elementary school, our report cards were done as O, S, and U (instead of A, B, C, D, F). O was Outstanding, S was Satisfactory, U was Unsatisfactory.
Writing: Evan is an excellent writer. He loves writing words and is very good at his letters. Grade: O.
Reading: Evan is a very good reader, especially for his age. He loves learning to read and can read several words by sight, and several more words by sounding them out. Grade: S (I'm being hard on him so I can use each "grade" in this post. In real non-bloggy life, I'm floored by his reading abilities.)
Spelling: Today Evan has been running around the house yelling, "I'm Tigger! T-T-double I-grr!" Spelling: U.

Banana Raisin Wheat Muffins
The other day I made a new muffin recipe (in the interest of using up the end of a box of cereal I had no desire to eat as cereal). The kids absolutely loved the muffins, as did I! Chad was indifferent to them, probably because they had raisins in them. But, here's the recipe. I found it at the Post cereal website.
Banana-Raisin Wheat Muffins
1 C Post Original Shredded Wheat Spoon Size Cereal (I used the Wheat & Bran Shredded Wheat)
1 C fat free milk (I used whole milk)
1 1/4 C flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt (I probably didn't put this in, or at least not all of it)
1 egg
1 C mashed ripe bananas, about 2 large bananas
1/3 C firmly packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp margarine, melted
1/2 C raisins
Preheat oven to 400 F. Mix cereal and milk in large bowl; let stand 5 minutes. Meanwhile, combine flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. Add egg, bananas, sugar, and margarine to cereal mixture; mix well (I mix everything by hand). Add flour mixture; stir just until moistened; batter will be lumpy. Stir in raisins. Spoon evenly into 12 muffin cups sprayed with cooking spray, filling each cup 2/3 full. (I used cupcake papers. I made 12 regular muffins and 12 mini muffins.) Bake 20 minutes or until golden brown. (Obviously don't bake the mini muffins as long as the regular size.) Let stand in pan 5 minutes. Remove to wire rack. Cool slightly.
I wasn't sure how these would turn out, but they were excellent! The kids and I had them for a snack after they had cooled a little. After the first snack, there were only 15 of the 24 left. I left them sitting on the table the rest of the day, and there were only a few left by the end of the day. But with the minimal amount of sugar (for getting 24 muffins) and the bonus of bananas and bran cereal, I figured they were a good wholesome snack for the kids. Enjoy!

It's too big
Evan: Ok, Daddy, let's play school! Grab your backpack and put in your favorite things because it's show-and-tell!
Daddy: Ok, come get in!
Evan: No, I'm too big.
Daddy: But you're my favorite thing.
Kendra: (giggling)
Daddy: Kendra, will you fit in here?
Evan: No, she's too big.
Daddy: Mommy? Can you come put your bottom in here?
Evan: No, it's too big.
Daddy: (giggling) I think I set you up for that one, Mommy!
