1st grade letters

In 1st grade, the kids are working on writing letters to people. There seem to have been [at least] two different projects. One was to write a letter to someone in their class and put it in that person's paperbag mailbox. The other was to write a letter to someone and bring it home, presumably so you could mail it to them.

Evan got a letter from his best friend Makenna, and his bring-home letter was one he wrote to her. I thought they were both too cute and had to be shared. And, to maintain the 1st grade cuteness, I'll keep their spelling and capitalization as is.

The one to Evan from Makenna says "To: Evan's mailbox" on the outside. On the inside it has a picture she drew of the two of them with a caption saying "Best friends tell the end". The letter itself:

Dear Evan youer
my BFF. can you
Dauel at Reeses. [duel at recess]Hope you win. Please
can you give me
youer phone number.
Youer Best friend Makenna

I like you!
I want you to
come to my
Brithday! My Phone number

xxx.xxx.xxxx

So see you
at my Birthday.
Can I come
to youer house

I thought it was such a sweet letter! And then I read the letter that Evan wrote to Makenna:

2,012 or 2-24-12

Dear Makenna

You are a great friend!

I liked his letter just as much as I liked the one that was to him!

To be fair, I'll include Kendra's letters too. The one she received was from Abby:

I olso like fried rond Stack [fried round steak]. It is my
Dad's faveret too. Do you like horses?

And the one Kendra wrote:
2-24-2012 [The paper for this activity has a date line; the other paper didn't.]

dear granpa and grandma Ficse [Yes, she spelled our last name wrong. It makes me laugh.]
I miss you. I hope you'r

Worth waiting for

It may have taken a little over 5 months to find it, but Evan finally got what he had wanted for his birthday:
That's one happy little boy!
